The OTHM Level 6 qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety are developed to provide learners who have or are looking to develop into a senior role in an organisation for managing health and safety policy and practice. Learners will gain the skills and knowledge to understand the legal and regulatory background to occupational health and safety policy, to be able to assess policies, as well as to recommend and implement policy changes. Learners will develop knowledge and skills relevant to putting policy into practice, utilising management systems, resources, risk and incident management, leadership, management and skills development.

This diploma is equivalent to a bachelor’s degree and provides participants with the skills to develop, implement and manage effective OH&S management systems in a variety of industries. The program consists of 7 modules and 21 assignments, covering key topics such as management system implementation, workplace safety, risk management, incident investigation, occupational health and safety, safety culture and compliance.

    Entry requirements

    Applicants are normally expected to meet one of the following criteria:

    • A relevant NQF/QCF/RQF Level 5 qualification, diploma, or equivalent recognised qualification.

    • A qualification that covers fundamental occupational health and safety concepts, such as risk management, workplace safety, legislation, and health and safety management principles.

    • Mature learners (typically aged 21 or above) with substantial relevant work experience in health and safety may also be considered.

    • Learners should normally be aged 18 or above.

    • Applicants whose first language is not English may be required to provide evidence of English language competence.

  Equivalence

  OTHM qualifications at RQF Level 6 represent practical knowledge, skills, capabilities and competences that are assessed in academic terms as being equivalent level to Bachelor’s Degrees with Honors, Bachelor’s Degrees, Professional Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), Graduate Diplomas and Graduate Certificates.

Duration

The qualification is designed to be delivered over 2 – 3 months approximately for full-time study, but it is also flexible in its delivery in order to accommodate part-time and distance and blended learning. As HSE.AZ LLC, we recommend to complete this within 4 – 6 months.

Additional information:

– Lessons are held twice a week and each lesson is 2-3 hours.
– The total duration of the study program is a minimum of 2-3 months.
– The total duration of the program can last up to a maximum of 6 months, taking into account the submission of exam results to OTHM office in UK.
– Recommended total completion time: approximately 6 months

Recognition

Individuals who achieve the diploma qualification will be eligible to apply for Certified level of membership CertIOSH. (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health)

Those eligible for Certified membership can then undertake a period of Initial Professional Development which will require students to provide evidence of their practice skills in a skills development portfolio (IPD).

At the end of this period there will be a professional review interview. After successful completion of this IPD process students will then be eligible for Chartered membership of IOSH (CMIOSH).

This qualification is also OFQUAL regulated.

Progression / University

Completion of our qualification will meet the university’s standard academic entry requirements. However, each applicant will be subject to individual assessment and other entry requirements which may affect university entry.

The following progression arrangements have been confirmed by each university. As our qualifications are approved and regulated by Ofqual (Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulation), learners are also eligible to progress to a top-up degree, master’s programme, or MBA at many universities in UK and overseas with advanced standing.
