NEBOSH IGC – International General Certificate (e-learning)

Views:

The NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health qualification is now available to you at HSE.AZ in e-learning format.

General information about the course:

The NEBOSH IGC is one of the most preferred qualifications globally in occupational safety and health. This qualification provides certain advantages for both the employer and the employee (eg: having competent staff, increasing career opportunities, better health and safety management, better risk control, etc.)

Level of qualification:

At the international level, NEBOSH IGC is a level-3 qualification in the NQF (National Qualification Framework).

Requirements for participation:

There is no specific requirement to attend in the NEBOSH IGC course. However, NEBOSH recommends an English language proficiency level of IELTS 6 to better grasp the course material and be successful in the exams. In addition, it is recommended that you attend any lower level health and safety courses to ensure you have the minimum knowledge before applying for this qualification. For example: IOSH “Managing safely”, NEBOSH “Health and safety at work”. These are recommendations, not requirements.

Sections of the course:

The course consists of two sections – IG1 and IG2.

  • IG1 occupational health and safety management – this includes 4 elements: 1) Why should health and safety be managed in the workplace. 2) Health and safety management system. 3) Risk management. 4) Health and safety monitoring and performance measurement
  • IG2 Controlling risks in the workplace – it includes 7 elements: 1) Physical and psychological health. 2) Musculoskeletal health. 3) Chemical and biological substances. 4) General workplace issues. 5) Work equipment. 6) Fire. 7) Electricity

Qualification assessment:

The assessment on IG1 is of the “Open Book Exam” type. So, on the day of the exam, you will log into your account on the online platform and download the exam questions. Based on the scenario mentioned there, you will be presented with certain questions. You will write answers to those questions and submit them to NEBOSH in your account on the online platform within 24 hours.

The assessment on IG2 is performed on the basis of a practical assignment. So you will carry out a risk assessment in your workplace based on NEBOSH requirements and send it to your course provider. If you are not currently working, this is not a problem. We will explain to you in what area you can write a risk assessment.

The passing score for IG1 is 45 points on a 100-point system. Passing on IG2 is assessed by the “refer / pass” system.
